I’ve been called a lot of things in my life, and “sales coach” is the one that seems to have stuck!

So who is this random Irish dude that claims to be a sales coach?

I'm a sales coach for two very specific kinds of people:

  1. Founders who need to build/ improve their sales strategies in 12 weeks or less

  2. B2B sellers who need to get better at booking meetings, running deals and understanding their customers

Having spent a long time in sales, here are some core sales values that I live by and that inform my coaching practice

My definition of Sales

The definition of sales is “the transfer of enthusiasm from one person to another”. If you’re not enthusiastic about what you sell, then nobody else can be either. The first person you need to sell your product/ service to is yourself.

Coaching VS Training

Training is about the transfer of information - tools, tactics and checklists that are used to go from A to B. But coaching is about changing behaviour - using what you already know to get better results.

It’s not about you

Sales isn’t about us as sellers, it’s about our customers. If we talk about ourselves, and focus on what we need, then we lose. But if we focus on the customer, who they are and what they need (not always what they think they need) then we’ll win.

Marketing VS Sales

Marketing is all about delivering one message to as many people as possible, regardless of circumstances. Sales is about delivering one message to one specific person and making it relevant to their specific circumstances.

A credit card and a pulse

If your definition of an ideal client is “someone with a credit card and a pulse”, then unfortunately you’re in the wrong business. We focus on being the best we can be for one specific niche, which means we have to be able to tell people “I’m not the right person for you”. Knowing exactly who we do & do not want to help, is key for success in sales.

An art and a science

Sales is both an art and a science. We use data and trend analysis to inform where we should spend our time. But at the end of the day, we’re dealing with human beings, so being able to communicate effectively with another human being is an art.

A lot of people are scared of sales

My vision is that my clients live a life without fear.

  • Not afraid of picking up the phone to make a cold call

  • Not afraid of asking for “just one small favour” from their customers

  • Not afraid of raising their prices to match the market

As a sales coach

I’m privileged to say that my work directly impacts the lives of the people that I support.

Their lives change, their behaviours change and how they see the world changes. They go from saying “I could never do that” to “how can I make that happen?”
